PRICE INCREASE FOR CPSM CERTIFICATION

Dear Friends:

For the last 3 years we have tried hard to bring you reasonable price for CPSM Certification. We could claim that these were lowest as compared to any other international certification program and even lower than any other developing country for CPSM Certification. This was possible with our lean structure and support from ISM in the initial phase.

We do everything we can to bring you great values and stretch your hard-earned money. However recently we have been impacted by various cost factors such as strengthening of US Dollar vs. Indian Rupees by 15%, increase in service tax and increase in Royalty Payment by 25%.
As much as we would like to maintain our prices for another year, but we regret that it may not be practical. Hence effective 1 October 2015 our new prices will be as follows:

1. Annual Membership of ISM USA : Rs.8000
2. Study Material: Rs.17, 000 for ISM Members & Rs. 22,000 for Non-members.
3. Online Exam Fee: Rs.4500 per exam for ISM members & Rs.5500 per exam for non-members.

We value you as a client and want to continue serving you. We hope to maintain our excellent relationship with you all, and assure you our quality of service will reflect a similar increase. Please note that any request received up to end of September 2015 will be on old rates.

Warm regards.
Krishan K. Batra

Building Procurement & Supply Management Community of Practice

Although much of the work being done by Procurement/Supply professionals in many organizations is similar in scope and format,a mechanism that could link these professionals through an informal community of practice simply does not exist. To facilitate this we have already initiated LinkedIn ISM-INDIA Group to share your experience and practices. Presently it has nearly 1000 members and acts as Knowledge Gateway. However this lacks the personal touch.

To foster the community of Practice which allows professionals to network and share best practices, ISM-INDIA in cooperation with the World Bank is launching its first workshop inChennai on 23 September 2015. The key objectives of this are as follows:
  • Learn & Share best practices with peers across companies/organizations.
  • Keep track of the latest trends and technology in Procurement/Supply Management
  • Contribute to develop knowledge gateway of competencies and skills to professionalize the Procurement & Supply Management staff.
  • Strengthen links between professional in formulating and implementing improved training programs.
Based on the feedback, we will launch similar programs in other major cities of India. Since there are limited seats, please send your confirmation to participate at the earliest. The program will be from 5:00pm to 8:00 pm followed by networking dinner. There is no fee to participate.

We look forward to your active participation.

Emerging Trends in Procurement Technology

Dear Friends:

Recently, I had the opportunity to address the procurement professionals in a summit sponsored by Microsoft. Here are the highlights of my presentation. If interested, you can ask for a copy of the presentation.

Technology is now the greatest change agent and driving force in today’s socially and digitally connected world. Few trends are emerging in the procurement technology space. All of them have effectively the same goal of delivering more, long-term savings but each approach the problem from a different angle. These are Mobile Procurement, Cloud Technology, Social Media, Data Accuracy, Intelligent Reporting etc.

Initially during 1980s, the emphasis was on reducing the time spent in completing procurement cycle through e-Procurement. Later to gain efficiency, various modules for functions such as Contract Management, Spend Management, Suppliers Management etc. were developed. With disparate technology for each function, multiple procurement technologies need to be integrated for a complete procurement cycle. This leaves loopholes in the cycle, resulting in a non-centralized and inefficient system. More often, volumes of data have to be extracted and re-entered from one module to another, which is a fairly labor-intensive process.

Procurement technology—largely divided into Source-to-Contract (S2C) and Procure-to-Pay (P2P)—has become a de facto platform for purchase teams to manage their procurement of goods and services, suppliers & budget.

ERP software suites traditionally contained a good deal of procurement functionality, but in order to be effective, any e-procurement system will still need to tie directly into the ERP systems of both buyers and sellers in order to track order receipts and payments.

The above lack what today's end users expect in usability, self-service or mobile device support. Instead of either replacing or re-architecting the end-to-end in-house solution, companies integrate cloud applications to reach existing (and many new) business users with web-native multi-device front end support. Cloud computing provides seamless B2B integration between buyers and their supply chain partners.

Procurement systems have started to break out of the desktop PC/large application model and become much more mobile (Tablets) - both for the search/order/approve cycle and analytics on-the-go. Lastly to be cost effective and have latest updated technologies; there is a trend towards use of SaaS (Software as a Service Provider) where you pay for usage and vendor manages all applications

Warm regards.

Procurement Trends Survey-2015

As in the past, ISM-INDIA has created a survey to gather views of the procurement sector with a focus on issues for 2015. This aims at compiling the current state of the profession and factors which may influence the sector in the coming year.

We take this opportunity to thank you for your support in providing your input last year which helped us to compile Procurement Trends Report for 2014 . This was well received by many procurement & supply chain practitioners. With the above survey for 2015, we wish to carry on this practice.

We look forward to your active support in filling out this Survey Form. You are welcome to share this with your friends whose input/ feedback could be of use to the procurement community.

Thanks & regards.
